Description:
An encounter with light generating devices
Light-generating devices use many different technologies to generate light over a broad spectrum range and with varying characteristics.
Topics of presentation:
- Introduce and cover the main defining characteristics of three groupings of light generating devices: thermal sources, discharge sources, and specialty sources.
- Discuss the characteristics necessary to help choose one device over another and in what applications they may be suitable.
As a result of this discussion we anticipate attendees will have received an introduction to a subset of different device technologies for light generation and will also understand the unique value as well as the limitations of each device type.
